I got it on audio book, for free, on www.audible. com ! Yeah!!! I don't know if I will listen to it exclusively, or read along.

Audio books are a great way to multitask, which I have gotten pretty good at. I especially want to be able to knit and read at the same time, which you just can't do with regular books. At least I can't. I can knit without looking, but not with a book in my lap!

Today's world is so fast that if you can't multitask, you just might get lost.

But there are some tasks that just shouldn't be mixed. Like driving and using a cell phone, or texting. I see people driving and talking on their cell phones all the time, doing very complex maneuvers, like making turns, exiting parking lots, and pulling out of parking spots. I have even had a driver pull out in front of me while talking on the phone. It is a good thing I don't talk on the phone while driving. At least I pay attention to those around me, rather than the person on the other end of a phone.

Well, enough ranting. But if that person who talks and drives at the same time is you, STOP IT!! BEFORE YOU KILL SOMEONE!

It happens, you know.
'Nuf said.

Rereading...

I am in the midst of rereading the "Outlander" series, by Diana Gabaldon. I bought "An Echo in the Bone" (#7)as soon as it came out, but after about 50 pages, I realized I needed to read the other books in the series again. And oh, how I am reveling in them! But it is also taking a very long time! These are not quick reads by any stretch of the imagination! I am about 175 pages into "Drums of Autumn" (#4) and though I have read it at least twice before, there are parts that are surprises still.
I have also been writing more on a teen book about time travel, and watching "Lost" on TV, so questions about time travel have been in my mind, and in particular, what I call the Time Change Paradox:
It is the idea that if you travel into the past, you cannot do anything that will prevent you from traveling into the past, i.e. you cannot tell yourself not to travel, you cannot prevent your own birth or existance at the time that you travelled back, you can't tell anyone to stop you. If you do any of these things, and you do not travel as a result of them, you will not be there (in the past) to do whatever you did to stop yourself from travelling, so you will not be able to stop yourself... and back and forth...
I would imagine that if you tried, there might be some sort of flickering back and forth between the event of travelling and not travelling, until you either stop doing, or intending to do, whatever set off the flickering, or you die...
It was a question I had to figure out for my story, and it brought up other questions both in the "Outlander" books, and in "Lost". I have yet to find out how it applies in "Lost", and it is becoming evident in the "Outlander" books that changing such things is a lot more difficult than one would think.

Young readers...

I was reminded this afternoon of my young reading endeavors.

One of my grandneices found the box of books left for anyone to take, and she was picking out books...But she's just 7, and none of the books was appropriate for her.
